Organisers and soccer fans alike says there’s no doubt that some superb matches can be expected from Africa’s best teams. As the tournament gets underway, the mood in Johannesburg and the rest of South Africa has so far not reached the frenzy seen during the 2010 FIFA World Cup which South Africa also hosted. But fans from all over the continent and farther afield have been flocking into the country in time for Saturday’s opening ceremonony. The tournament slogan “The beat at Africa’s feet” also promises plenty of action.

Various chants could be heard right from the stadium and its surrounding as people display and held high their National Flags and emulets.

Afcon 2013 Groups

Group A: South Africa, Angola, Morocco and Cape Verde

Group B: Ghana, Congo DR, Mali and Niger

Group C: Zambia, Nigeria, Burkina Faso and Ethiopia

Group D: Ivory Coast, Tunisia, Algeria and Togo

Groups and their Predictions for 2013 Nations Cup

In Group A, There are high hopes that South Africa could make do and overpower their fellow group mates (Angola, Morocco and Cape Verde)

In Group B, Four time Champion (Ghana) could make the group a little bit tense and competative. Mali is another team to look out for. Despite the current challenges faced by the nation, many believed that bagging the cup will in its own way neutralize and being to “oneness” Malians all across the globe.

Group C is tagged “The Hot Zone of AFCON 2013″. This is because in it lies the defending champion (Zambia) and former Champion (Nigeria). Their fellow group-mates (Burkina Faso and Ethopia) will also love to show some tricks up their sleeves. Mind you, Nigeria under the leadership of Coach Keshi promised Nigerians to expect much more as his boys will be out to bring in the trophy and entertain Nigerians and all lovers of Football.

Group D is also a no go area for weaklings as it has four tough and very competitive teams (Ivory Coast, Tunisia, Algeria and Togo) competing to top the chart. Who will top is just a matter of matches away.
