Guber polls: NNPP leads in Taraba capital as PDP wins 6 LGs



History was made on Tuesday in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State, as the governorship candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party NNPP, Professor Sani Yahaya, cleared the governorship election results of the council.

The capital, which has in the past been a stronghold of the All Progressives Congress APC, was taken over by NNPP with a wide margin.

However, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Kefas Agbu is leading after collation of Saturday’s governorship election results from ten out of the sixteen local government councils of the state.

As of the time of filing this report, the NNPP candidate is trailing the PDP candidate.

Local government councils won by the PDP out of the ten councils results so far coalited are Ardo-Kola, Lau, Yorro, Bali, Zing and Gashaka.

In the same vein, Jalingo, Gassol and Ibi councils were won by the NNPP guber candidate.

Unlike the PDP and the NNPP, the reverse has been the case with the APC, which only succeeded in coming out victorious in one out of the sixteen councils.

In Jalingo, the state capital where the NNPP took the other political parties unaware, a total vote of 49,424 was scored by the party.

Trailing the NNPP in Jalingo, the capital city, is the PDP with 20,769 votes.

Results from the remaining six local government councils of the state are still being awaited.
