Recipients receive their IMES upon entering their first year and have the opportunity to renew the scholarship for up to three additional years, contingent on available funding.

Eligibility Criteria for University of British Columbia UBC International Major Entrance Scholarship

Applicants are advised to meet the following requirements to be qualified for the University of British Columbia UBC International Major Entrance Scholarship:

  • Candidates have to be freshmen, coming straight out of high school to enroll at UBC.
  • Possess a Canadian study permit (student visa) and be an international student attending UBC. (Any modifications to your citizenship status will impact your eligibility for IMES.)
  • Exhibit outstanding intellectual potential and academic accomplishment in addition to noteworthy extracurricular and community commitment.
  • Not be considered for a merit-and-needs-based International Scholars.

Application Process for University of British Columbia UBC International Major Entrance Scholarship

Those who are interested in applying for the UBC International Major Entrance Scholarship for International Students should be aware that they will be automatically considered for the IMES if they apply to UBC before January 15.

Shortly after receiving an admissions offer from UBC, applicants will have their chances to win this award evaluated. Every year, scholarship selections are determined between the middle of March and the end of April. You can visit the official website for further details.
