An aggrieved aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Olugbenga Araoyinbo, who contested the ticket of the party during the primary election for Akoko North-East/North-West Federal Constituency of Ondo State, at the weekend has rejected the result of the exercise.

Araoyinbo in a petition to the national leadership of the party alleged that there were irregularities during the primary held a few days ago ahead of the February 3 by-election.

DAILY POST recalls that Ifeoluwa Ehindero emerged as the winner of the primary held at Victory College, Ikare-Akoko, headquarters of Akoko North-East Local Government Area of the state.

While expressing dissatisfaction with the outcome of the primary, Araoyinbo stated that the guidelines of the party regarding the conduct of primary were not met during the exercise.

According to him, the result of the primary should be cancelled, because, particularly, no congress was held in the two local governments that made up the constituency prior to the primary.

He also maintained that the delegates’ lists were not made available to the aspirants before the primary was held.

“Over 90 genuine, committed, and faithful party members from across the 23 electoral wards who paid for and collected forms to participate in the delegate congress which was scheduled for the 5th of January 2024 for the primary election were excluded as the delegate congress did not hold as scheduled.

“But instead, fake and unknown persons were injected into a fake delegate list which was not even made available to the aspirants before the time scheduled for the primary election and even till I write this letter, ” he stated.
