NOA Zonal Director Iroha canvases for peace between border communities as farming season sets in

In furtherance with the Mandate of the National Orientation Agency to properly inform and enlighten the citizenry, the Zonal Director of the National Orientation Agency Southeast Mrs Regina Iroha has embarked on a wide sensitization programme on rural and border communities in the zone to sustain mutual coexistence.
Mrs Iroha who speaking with newsmen opined that the Sensitization became necessary especially now that the farming season is about to start in earnest, it is important to build a people of peace to avoid border clashes in this year’s farming season.
The NOA Zonal Director stressed that mutual coexistence will facilitate and encourage greater output and food sufficiency in the country and eliminate food insecurity. She called on the border communities to eschew rancor and clashes that could destabilize the peace of the Nation.
She emphasized that as the rainy season is gradually setting in hence there is the need to avoid incessant border clashes that may hinder agricultural activities this season. She said the federal government has come up with intervention programmes to assist the farmers in the country to ensure that enough food is produced.
Mrs Iroha reiterated that adequate measures have been put in place by the agency to go round border communities, using the agency’s Community Orientation and Mobilization Officers (COMOs)to dialogue with the people on the need to build a people of peace. She said creating awareness on the importance of mutual coexistence and environmental friendliness will enhance massive production of food in the country and discourage importation of food.
She charged traditional rulers cooperate with the government and call their subjects especially the youth to order, stressing that peace is priceless especially now that the farming season is about to commence. She charged the youth to avoid crises that may result in loss of lives and property rather should look inward and identify those agricultural raw materials for agro-based industries that can further strengthen local farmers.
The Zonal boss said the Agency will embark on aggressive sensitization with a visit to major flash points in the zone to preach the message of peace and mutual coexistence.
