Governor Otti orders demolition of bungalow Used by Kidnappers in Osisioma, vows to intensify crackdown on criminals in Abia

In a decisive move against criminal activities in Abia State, Governor Alex Otti has ordered the immediate demolition of a bungalow in Osokwa, Osisioma Local Government Area, where security operatives recently rescued four kidnapped victims. The operation, carried out by the Abia State Police Command, resulted in the neutralization of six kidnappers after an intense gun battle.
Addressing journalists at the Banquet Hall of the Abia State Government House on Saturday during a World Press Conference jointly held with the Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, Governor Otti reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to rooting out criminal elements in the state.
“I instructed earlier today that the bungalow in Osokwa, Osisioma LGA, be completely demolished. We will also identify and prosecute the owner of the building. Any property linked to criminal activities will face the same fate,” Governor Otti declared.
As part of the crackdown, the Governor directed the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Uzor Nwachukwu, to summon the Traditional Ruler of Osokwa Community for questioning on how four kidnapped victims were harbored in the area without his knowledge.
Governor Otti commended CP Danladi Isa and his tactical team for their bravery in the successful rescue operation, adding that their actions demonstrated the government’s resolve to ensure that no part of Abia State serves as a haven for criminals.
“We have made it clear that no part of Abia will be ceded to criminals. On behalf of the state government, I commend the police for their swift response and dedication to securing our people,” Otti stated.
He also hinted at a financial reward for the officers involved in the operation, saying, “I have whispered to the CP that a financial reward awaits you.”
Earlier, Commissioner of Police, CP Danladi Isa, provided a breakdown of the tactical operation that led to the rescue of the kidnapped victims.
“On March 9, four men were abducted along Umuahia New Road in Obingwa by armed kidnappers. Our tactical team immediately swung into action, deploying advanced tracking technology to locate the hideout in Osisioma,” CP Isa explained.
“On March 15, we launched an operation and engaged the criminals in a fierce gun battle. Despite coming under heavy fire, our men neutralized six kidnappers and successfully rescued the victims unharmed.”
CP Isa assured residents that security measures have been intensified across Abia State to combat crime and ensure public safety. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies.
The demolition of the kidnappers’ hideout sends a clear warning to criminal elements operating in the state, reinforcing Governor Otti’s zero-tolerance stance on crime.
